In April 2021, the Central Planning-Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Information Technology in St. Vincent & the Grenadines engaged IOS Partners to support sustainable tourism development and economic diversification in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). This is part of an effort to keep in line with the SVG government’s national policy for tourism development.

The dedicated IOS team, in collaboration with the SVG government, will create a comprehensive and practical Tourism Master Plan that will guide the sustainable socio-economic development of the tourism sector in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. This plan will serve to strategically propel the growth of international tourism in the country, thus enabling the island nation to be competitive amidst constant regional and global changes, demands, and trends.

The Master Plan will consider the effects of climate change, the global COVID19 pandemic and the most recent volcanic eruptions and will include a clear Implementation and Action Plan that provides crucial steps to achieve robust economic growth and obtain positive long-term social-economic impacts for the local SVG communities.

Under this assignment, IOS Partners will be implementing the following activities over a 7-month timeline in close collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Sport and Culture, the Board of Directors, and other relevant tourism stakeholders:

  • Review and analyze all relevant project documentation;
  • Produce an inventory and assessment of tourism in SVG;
  • Conduct a market evaluation of the tourism sector in SVG;
  • Assess the impacts of tourism on SVG;
  • Design an overall tourism development strategy; and
  • Develop an implementation and action plan.

The IOS Partners team looks forward to commencing the activities of the project and establishing strong cooperative relationships with the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the coming months to ensure their needs and desires are met to achieve medium-term national level sustainable growth in tourism.
